We've had a couple of days of honest to goodness spring! The trees are leafing out, wild cherry trees are blossoming and the springtime flowers are finally blooming. Sarah and I went shopping and got some plants for the cemetery planters and for the pots in our yard. Sarah filled in the planters and started beautifying around the yard by weeding the area in front of the house and planting purple violets, weeding out under the cherry tree and preparing that for whatever we decide to plant. Dad was still busy working today, but seems to have satisfied everyone for the time being and can relax and sleep again. Sarah and I started out our day by taking a bike ride over to the Anderson Street apartments where Stacey lives and looking for a great horned owl that was lurking around her doorway and garage areas on Friday. When we saw it on Friday it was perched on a low tree limb. Sarah took pictures, one of which is posted here. When we went back today, it was nowhere to be seen. Then we rode a ways down the bike trail and stopped at the library book sale on our way back. We picked up quite a few interesting books. Then it was home for some lunch and actual work. Later in the afternoon there was a report of a moose siting on Hwy 8 towards Crandon and we took off to investigate. It ended up being a wild goose chase, but Sarah got a chance to see a wooded area filled with trilliums, something she claims to never have seen before.
So, here are some pictures of spring in the Northwoods!
