Sarah and I left for Marshfield on Saturday afternoon. We wanted to get ahead of the big storm that was moving in. We ran into rain on the last leg of the trip and got there well ahead of the storm.
We woke up Sunday morning to a snow filled driveway. Grandma, Sarah and I got the driveway cleaned out, not in time for church, but at least we got rid of ten inches of snow before anymore could accumulate. We spent the day doing last minute Christmas preparations--making candy, preparing those foods for Christmas dinner that could be done ahead of time.
Uncle Bob and Aunt Jeanette, Sarah and I took Grandpa to see Uncle Roman on Christmas Eve Day. Dad and Cooper made it over the snowy roads to join us by the time we got home again. We went to Christmas Eve Mass at 6 p.m. and came home to chili and a cozy night in front of the Christmas tree. Aunt Wendy, Uncle Joe, Adam and Mark arrived around 10 p.m. None of us got to bed before midnight--not even Grandpa! All of us slept in on Christmas Day, except for Grandma, who was up early to start cooking. Dinner was honey glazed ham, roast beef, mashed potatoes, California blend vegetables, green bean casserole, fruit salad, French bread, Hawaiian bread, cranberry wine, with cherry and lemon pies for dessert. After doing the dishes, we settled down to the serious business of opening gifts. The attached pictures were taken with the new camera Dad gave me for Christmas. The best Christmas present of the day? A phone call from Erica. For about an hour we had the whole family together for Christmas.
